Restoring Dignity, One Step at a Time: Our Community Support Initiatives

While our large-scale outreach events are the most visible part of our work, the heart of Remnants Royal Family beats every single day through our other community support initiatives. Our commitment to "Hope in Action" means we address the immediate, practical barriers that prevent individuals from living a life of dignity and pursuing recovery.

Addiction and neglect don't just affect the mind and spirit; they often devastate the body. Through illness, accidents, or lack of care, many are left with physical challenges that deepen their isolation. Our goal is to meet these needs directly, restoring not just hope, but mobility and independence.

The RRF Orthopedic Aid Program

One of our most impactful ongoing activities is the provision of orthopedic aids to those in need. For someone struggling, the inability to walk or move freely is a massive obstacle to attending support meetings, seeking employment, or even re-engaging with their family.

By providing these simple tools, we offer a profound gift: the freedom to move forward.

šŸ‘ What We Provide

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we actively source and distribute essential mobility aids, including:

  • Wheelchairs for those with significant mobility challenges.
  • Crutches to assist with injuries and recovery.
  • Walking Frames (Walkers) to provide stability for the elderly or those regaining their strength.
  • Canes and other walking aids.

Some Beneficiaries

So far, we have assisted a few people. This for us is just the beginning as we hope to continue offering this aid, alongside the work we do to combaty drug addiction in our communities.

Mzee Willy Kariuki (17th June 2025)

His sad ordeal started when he fell and hurt his foot while working at his garden. Due to his advanced age, the healing process was slow and agonizing.

The situation was further complicated by acute Arthritis and a chronic infection that took over his right leg. The only solution was amputation which has left him dependent on his equally aged wife; who now complains of back pains after having to lift him every so often.

On 17th June 2025, Remnants Royal Family visited Mzee and were happy to deliver a Walking Frame to him.

Update: 5th July, 2025: RRF team further purchased adult diapers to Mzee

Update: 23rd July, 2025: Mzee's wife reports that Mzee has started showing signs of improved mobility

Mike Macharia (14th August, 2025)

Macharia lived an active life until he contracted Bone TB that affected his spin, leaving him paralyzed. Worse still the disease was discovered after so much mis-diagnosis and even after that, he had to wait for months to undergo corrective surgery to his spinal discs.

The good news is that has started regaining some of his senses and physiotherapy has been recommended to help him regain is ability to walk. By helping him with a walking frame, we are certain we have put hi on the right path to full recovery!

Others we have helped

šŸ’– The Impact: More Than Just a Walking Aid

Providing a wheelchair is not just about providing a chair; it's about giving a person back their world. Restoring mobility is a critical, often overlooked, part of recovery. It allows individuals to:

  • Regain Independence: The ability to move without relying on others is a powerful boost to self-esteem.
  • Break Isolation: It empowers them to leave their homes, connect with the community, and attend vital support sessions.
  • Pursue Opportunities: It opens the door to seeking treatment, education, or employment.

Every walking frame we donate is a step towards a new life. Every wheelchair is a vehicle for hope.

šŸ™ How You Can Support This Initiative

This program is entirely dependent on community goodwill. You can help us restore dignity and mobility in several ways:

  • āœ… Donate Equipment: Do you have gently-used orthopedic aids like wheelchairs, walkers, or crutches that are no longer in use? We can ensure they find a new home where they are desperately needed.
  • āœ… Give Financially: Your financial gift can help us purchase new or specialized equipment for those with specific needs, and cover the costs of transport and delivery.
  • āœ… Connect Us: If you know an individual or a medical facility that could benefit from or contribute to this program, please put them in touch with us.
